I am not exactly sure what qualifies as female friendship fiction. I do know that these books will take the reader on a journey from the US to several other countries dealing with love, terrorists, a lot of fighting and escaping from horrible people and back to the US where the main character and the love of his life are together again with a child they rescued and then torn apart again. A necessary condition of friendship, according to most views, is that the friends care about the other for his or her sake. Such caring involves both sympathy and action on the friend's behalf. Friendship differs from other interpersonal relationships, such as relationships among colleagues, because it is a more intimate relationship.
